...You Can Taste It
Sooooo...close. I am on the verge of being on leave. Our training is wrapping up here at Camp Shelby. It is sort of a scary thing to know that the training that is going to keep me alive is considered to be done. It goes to say that you can never get enough training to feel that you are ready to head to anywhere where there is combat going on. The only real evidence I suppose that you have had enough training is how you act when in the situation...only time will tell.
The good thing about all of this is the morale of the guys is excellent. Being on the verge of a 7 day leave is always a good thing, and I have been blessed with a young bunch of guys who take initiative to see that things get done right. There is a sense of motivation in that kind of mindset. Besides right now anyone would be motivated right now know that in a couple of days they are going to get to see their wife.
I am really excited. I caught myself thinking how I could be so calm, assured, and expectant of the future when I know full well what is in store for me. Maybe it is the guy in me that wants to go through a tough time. A season of life that can prove a mans mettle. To show that I have what it takes to get the job done. Done right. Being a leader and leading others to partake in the fruit of a battle won.
I need your prayers. Love you all.
